In an exclusive interaction with ETimes, Angira, who rose to fame with her solid performances in the digital space, speaks about the ongoing
Coronavirus pandemic and how it has affected her professional life. Excerpts…
How has life changed post the Coronavirus pandemic? It has definitely been different post the Coronavirus pandemic. My shoots have gotten pushed, these days whoever I talk to, on the phone or otherwise, our conversations revolve around the subject; how people are reacting, the precautions you should take. Today, in the middle of the day, the roads are empty, they’re free of traffic. It is visibly different.
What sort of precautions are you taking? I anyway have an OCD of washing my hands, so that isn’t any different for me. Every time I come back home from outside, I drop my bags, go to the sink and wash my hands. I carry a hand sanitizer. I’m also generally a cleanliness freak; this has kind of made me more cautious. I try not to leave my bag everywhere, so I don’t carry germs back home with me amongst many other precautionary measures. I maintain one arm distance from most people, because it’s much safer that way. I’m definitely cautious of what’s going on around me and I'm being extra careful.
How has it affected your work? Have any shoots been cancelled? Yes, my shoots have gotten pushed till the end of the month. We’re waiting for the production team to get back and tell us when we’re going to start. Till then everything is on hold. This has surely affected my work.
How do you keep yourself busy since everything is in lockdown... anything that you are doing in this free time? Yes, I am making the most of this free time. I am watching and devouring all the shows online that I’ve wanted to watch for a very long time. I’m reading scripts that have been in my mailbox and I have a couple of books to read as research. I’m making the most of this time doing all this.
How are you taking care of your family and loved ones at this time? To be honest, my family is taking care of me. They know I don’t like being huddled up in the house. They keep warning me and making sure I am safe. They’re more responsible than I am right now.
What message would you like to give to everyone during this time? Stay safe! Stay indoors! Keep sanitizing your hands. Do not touch your face, at least try to not touch it. Public transport is a no-no, even if you are using it, be sure to cover yourself, especially your mouth and nose.
