Football fans around the globe have been waiting for this day. After weeks of intense matches, two teams - Argentina and France - will clash on the field today to bag the FIFA World Cup 2022. While Argentina quickly recovered from its defeat against Saudi Arabia in the initial stages of the World Cup and has proved its mettle, France, too, barring its loss against Tunisia, has proved to be a worthy finalist. Adding to the frenzy is Lionel Messi’s declaration that this will be his last World Cup game for Argentina. The emotions and excitement are at an all-time high as football fans have picked the team they plan to support today. Varun Dhawan, who has been following the game, posed exclusively for us sporting the white and blue jersey to support his favourite team, Argentina. Though work didn’t permit him to be in Qatar, he is all set for the big match. The actor says, “I am super excited to watch the final with the whole world. I will be watching the game with a few close friends at home.”

After the exit of star players and their teams - Neymar Jr (Brazil) and Christiano Ronaldo (Portugal), many are hailing Messi as the ultimate GOAT. Ask the actor whether he feels this solidifies the ace footballer’s position as the greatest of all time, and he says, “Yes, 100%. I have seen Messi play live in Kolkata, and he’s amazing. Also, this Argentinian team has everything going for them to win the World Cup final.”

Talking about how thrilled he is to watch Messi play his last match for Argentina, Varun says, “I am extremely excited, especially after Ronaldo got out of the running, which was such an emotional moment for me, as I have seen him play for various clubs. Messi’s the other legend and I am looking forward to watching him play his last match in the World Cup. I hope it ends on a high!” Is he disappointed to not see Ronaldo and Messi clash in the finals? “As football fans, we have seen them clash multiple times, so I don’t think it’s going to be a miss as such. I would love to see Messi and Argentina lift the World Cup.”

Apart from Argentina and France, there’s one team that Varun feels was worthy of a spot in the finals. He shares, “I would say Morocco. They played with so much heart, and even in the last match, they were so strategic and played really well.”
