Family Business’: Anil Kapoor and Vijay Varma face off in Hansal Mehta’s new corporate saga

Netflix has unveiled the upcoming web series ‘Family Business,’ a power-driven drama introduced by Anil Kapoor and teased with the line, “New blood meets old money. With immense power at stake, the lines blur between family and business. Watch Family Business, coming soon, only on Netflix.” The project forms part of a major slate of new films and series set to be revealed on February 3, 2026. The announcement has already sparked interest for its scale, high-profile cast, and its focus on power, money, and moral conflict within elite business circles.

As reported by Mid-Day, filmmaker Hansal Mehta shot the series in Sri Lanka last year. The publication described the show as “the story of power, money, and morals through two business rivals whose ugly clash sends shockwaves in the financial world.” The big-budget drama is produced by Vikram Malhotra.




The report further stated, “Hansal and Vikram are keeping everything under wraps. With Anil and Vijay playing high-flying business magnates, the series will be shot across Mumbai, Sri Lanka, Serbia, and Georgia.” Written by Niren Bhatt, Ankur Pathak, and Nikhil Nair, the series explores the ruthless mechanics of modern capitalism. A source described it as “an incisive look at the cutthroat nature of today’s financial world, where money, manipulation, and greed are part of the game.” While both leads chase dominance, “Anil and Vijay’s characters, though ruthless in their individual pursuit of power and wealth, are shown to have contrasting ideologies and work ethics,” setting up the central conflict.

Hansal Mehta’s next directorial and ensemble cast

The narrative centers on a visionary billionaire who mentors a rising tycoon to lead India’s largest conglomerate. Months after taking charge, the successor is abruptly removed as the mentor reclaims power. Refusing to accept defeat, the ousted heir strikes back, turning a corporate succession dispute into all-out war. Old secrets emerge, alliances fracture, and the battle for control threatens to tear apart a respected business empire.

The ensemble cast includes Vijay Varma, Akash Khurana, Rhea Chakraborty, Neha Dhupia, Anant Nag, Kanwaljit Singh, Dhruv Sehgal, Nandish Sandhu, Tina Desai, Rohan Mehra, Kamal Sadanah, Raima Sen, Inayat Sood, and Madhoo Shah. According to the source, “Hansal is bringing together an eclectic ensemble cast,” adding that Neha and Raima “portray strong women who wield power in their own way and exert influence in the big boys’ club.”
