Farah Khan builds swimming pool inspired by Shah Rukh Khan’s team; Sonu Sood recalls 'Happy New Year' cast napping during premiere
Sonu Sood recently welcomed Farah Khan, his director from the popular film 'Happy New Year', to his newly built home in Mumbai. Farah captured the visit in her latest vlog, accompanied by her cook, Dilip. During their time together, they fondly recalled moments from filming the 2014 comedy-action movie. The actor also gave Farah a tour of his residence, where she had the chance to meet his wife and children.
Farah Khan Visits Sonu Sood’s New Mumbai Home
Upon stepping into his lavish new home, Farah greeted Sonu and playfully teased him about his busy schedule. She said, “Sonu is such a good friend. It has been a year since our channel started, we weren’t even able to get his dates.” Sonu replied, “It is so difficult to get Farah’s dates. She is so popular now. I have been chasing her since a long time. Bula le yaar.”
Recalling Sonu’s Near-Fatal Accident
Sonali Sood, who is both Sonu’s wife and producer, joined Farah by coming downstairs to greet her. Recounting the time of Sonu’s unfortunate car accident, Farah said she had only stopped by briefly. She shared, “I came for around 5 minutes last time when you met with an accident in Nagpur. Itni chotti cheezein nahi thi tab ghar mein. Rohit Shetty type stunt karahi thi yeh. It’s a miracle how you got saved, ya.”
Meeting the Sood Family
During the vlog, Sonu and Sonali showed Farah around their home and introduced her to Dilip, acknowledging his popularity. Farah was amazed at how tall their sons, Ishant and Ayaan, had grown. She admired a large canvas painting of a car that Ishant had created and said, “Sonu Sood se bhi lamba uska beta. Yeh tune banaayi hai? It’s fantastic ya. Can you make anything else? Daddy ko ullu banaata hai?” Ishant playfully responded, “Vo sabse zyada banaata hu.”
Praise for Sonu’s Directorial Debut
Khan openly expressed her admiration for Sood’s first film as a director, 'Fateh', which premiered earlier this year. She remarked, “You are a superb director. It is the most watched film on OTT? Wow.” Sonu shared exciting news about the project’s future, revealing, “Agla part two ki taiyaari hai, we will announce soon.” During the tour of his home, he pointed out a striking thread art piece made by a fan that hangs prominently in his living room. He also showed off an impressive sneaker collection displayed in a dedicated area, which he enjoys alongside his sons. Meeting their younger son Ayaan, fresh from completing his 10th standard exams, Farah commented in surprise, “Yeh kahaan se little yaar, itne lambe lambe bacche hain.”
Memories from the 'Happy New Year' Shoot
While preparing avocado toast and chickpea tortilla wraps, Farah and Sonu fondly reminisced about their time shooting 'Happy New Year'. Farah recalled, “We ate so much food during that shoot. But this man, Punjabi but pure vegetarian, he ate only one thing for 150 days of shoot, salad!” As Farah shared her plans to fly to the Maldives with Dilip, Sonu brought up another memorable incident from the film’s shoot. He said, “We were shooting in Atlantis hotel, Dubai. We were on the 25th or 30th floor.” Farah mentioned wanting to go swimming, so they went out onto the balcony where they saw Shah Rukh Khan’s Bengali staff swimming while wearing just their underwear. Sonu asked if she still wanted to swim, to which she replied, “ki main ab zindagi main swimming pool mein jaana band kardungi.”
“Hum logon ne itni PR ki hai na 'Happy New Year' ki, for months. Kisi ne koi picture mein nahi ki hogi itni. It was 40 days, then clam tour for three weeks, TV show bhi start kia, a dance competition, and then we went to Dubai for the premiere. We all were sitting in the first row and as soon as the film started, and in five minutes, all of us went to sleep. We were so exhausted,” Farah added.
Sonu’s Humanitarian Efforts
Renowned for his humanitarian initiatives during the Covid-19 crisis, Sonu revealed that he still keeps the contact details of everyone he assisted at that time. He played a crucial role in helping 7,23,000 migrant workers return to their villages. Near the vlog’s conclusion, Farah recounted a funny moment from Sonu’s 2017 movie 'Kung Fu Yoga' with Jackie Chan. She shared, “When Jackie came to India, I won’t take any names, but Sonu ne uss choreographer ko hataakar mujhe jo ghusaaya tha usme. Then, we did a lot of bargaining after going to China,” laughing as she recalled the incident.
