Fashion designer Ritu Beri and actors like Huma Qureshi and Boman Irani to attend Tashkent International Film Festival 2021

will be attending the 13th

Tashkent International Film Festival

that is scheduled from September 28 to October 3. The designer has facilitated the participation of actors and many others from Indian cinema as the two days at the festival – September 28 and 29- will be marked as the ‘Days of Indian Cinema.’ Informs Beri, “There will be a screening of several Indian films like

Mumbai Saga

at the film festival and we are still in the process of selecting more films to be screened. Actors like Boman Irani, Kunal Kapoor, Dino Morea, Aditi Rao Hydari, Huma Qureshi and Richa Chadha have confirmed their presence at the festival. From Hollywood, there will be stars like Steven Seagal, Timur Bekmambetov, Rob Minkoff, Gerard Depardieu and others participating in the festival. The representatives from each country will be on stage for the opening ceremony and each country will present its culture and work in cinema. Singer Jasbir Jassi will be performing on September 29 at Alisher Navoi Cinema Palace.”


The designer shares that it was in just about 10 days that the Indian participation at the festival was planned. She says, “This is a great platform for cultural exchange and an important event that brings together some big names from the world of cinema. The theme of the festival is ‘for peace, enlightenment and progress’. This edition of the film festival will see participation from 15 countries including Azerbaijan, Belarus, Egypt, Israel, India, Italy, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Poland, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkey and Uzbekistan. The festival will have music, national dances, and songs from other participating countries.”
Ritu is hoping that after the conclusion of this festival, she will be able to organize more events to encourage cultural exchange between India and Uzbekistan. “I am hoping that we can soon have a film festival in India where filmmakers, actors from across the world can participate. Also, I have plans to do something to encourage more collaboration between India and Uzbekistan in the field of fashion,” says Ritu.
