With several films releasing every week, filmmakers prefer to release their projects on festive and national holidays to attract more audience. We even notice, stars even pre-booking the dates in advance to avoid a clash.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 2018 magnum opus project which starred Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor turned out to be the highest-earning Republic Day release as the film minted a total of Rs 282.28 crore. Despite being mired in several controversies, Bhansali's period-drama shattered several box office records.

Shah Rukh Khan left everyone stunned with his Pathan look in 2017 blockbuster 'Raees'. The film turned out to be a paisa-vasool entertainer which managed to allure the audience to the theatres and earned a staggering amount of Rs 128.77 crore at the box office.

One of the busiest actors in B-town, Akshay Kumar's 2016 release 'Airlift' also manages to grab a spot in this list. With a collection of Rs 123.46 crore at the box office, the film which is based on a true event, managed to strike a chord with the audience.

Hrithik Roshan took one of the most challenging decisions of his career by agreeing to step into Amitabh Bachchan's shoes in the remake of 'Agneepath'. While his portrayal of Vijay Deenanath Chauhan received a mixed response from the critics, the reboot managed to fetch him Rs 119.98 crore in the domestic circuit.

How can a Bollywood box-office list be complete without the mention of Salman Khan? Bhaijaan's action-drama 'Jai Ho' which released on the occasion of Republic Day, collected Rs 109.35 crore and turned out to be one of the most entertaining films of 2014.
