From Sushant Singh Rajput to Kartik Aaryan: These Bollywood actors opted for acting over a career in engineering

While celeb in the B-Town has been vocal about their love for acting, some of them didn’t even choose the entertainment industry as their first career option. Bollywood is a mix of talents from different professions who switched to the industry after realising their true calling. Late actor Sushant Singh Rajput was one of the toppers of the engineering Entrance Examination in 2003 and pursued a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering from Delhi College of Engineering (later renamed Delhi Technological University). While his parents wanted to become an engineer, SSR later dropped out of his college to fulfil his acting dream.

Actor Kartik Aaryan who came to the limelight with his hit debut in ‘Pyaar Ka Punchnama’, could have made a career in engineering if acting had not happened to him. He studied B.Tech in Biotechnology from Navi Mumbai's D Y Patil College of Engineering. In fact, Kartik’s mother had strictly told him that he can only pursue acting after completing his engineering degree.

Actor Sonu Sood who recently completed 19 years in Bollywood marked his acting debut in 1999. Before joining the film industry, he attended Yeshwantrao Chavan College of Engineering in Nagpur for a degree in Electronics Engineering.

Taapsee Pannu is a successful software engineer besides being one of the leading actors. She even took up an engineering job before starting modelling and acting in ad shoots. She completed her degree in Computer Science Engineering from the Guru Tegh Bahadur Institute of Technology in New Delhi.

Vicky Kaushal holds an engineering degree in electronics and telecommunications from Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology, Mumbai. Before foraying into acting, he even tried his hands on an engineering job for a limited time, but later switched after realising his love for acting.

Kriti Sanon is one of the popular actors in Bollywood, who made her big Bollywood debut with Tiger Shroff in ‘Heropanti’ and never looked back. Before moving to Mumbai, she had already completed a Bachelor of Technology degree in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from Jaypee Institute of Information Technology in Noida.
