Protesters call for action against Neeraj Pandey and Manoj Bajpayee
IANS reported recently that many people across the country have taken to the streets to protest against the release of ‘Ghooskhor Pandat.’ Protests erupted in Bhopal, Indore, Prayagraj, and many other places where people called for the film not to be released. Many people also rallied against Neeraj Pandey and Manoj Bajpayee and burned their effigies during the processions.
In Bhopal, the Akhil Bhartiya Brahman Samaj protestors took to the streets with various placards holding messages against the upcoming film. Placards read things such as “Iss film ka nirmata Neeraj Pandey murdabad (Down with the producer of this film, Neeraj Pandey)”, and “Iss film ka kalakaar Manoj Bajpayee murdabad (Down with the actor of this film, Manoj Bajpayee).”
They demanded that the film’s title be immediately removed from the platform, and also called for an FIR to be filed against the creators of the film. Not only that, but many protestors also called for the film to be entirely banned from the popular OTT platform.
More about the controversy
The film is about a cop named Pandat, who has been in the force for quite some time and has gone corrupt over time. Manoj Bajpayee plays the lead role in the film. It has been created by Neeraj Pandey. When the trailer was first released a few days ago, it caused a lot of online backlash and debate. Due to the backlash, even the first look at the upcoming OTT release was taken down from video streaming platforms.
An FIR was also lodged against the film in Lucknow on the grounds of hurting religious sentiments.
