Govinda's wife Sunita Ahuja claims she taught him acting and dance: 'I rejected lead role in Tan Badan'

Govinda, the iconic star of the 90s known for his comedic genius and distinctive dance moves, continues to be in the spotlight, this time thanks to revelations by his wife, Sunita Ahuja. During an episode of The Male Feminist on Hauterrfly, Sunita shared details about her contribution to Govinda's journey, her decision to step away from films, and their enduring relationship.

Speaking about Govinda's skills, Sunita proudly said, “Aaj acting kitni achi karta hai, maine sikhaya hai. Dance kisne sikhaya, maine sikhaya. (Govinda acts superb. I have taught him. Who taught him dance? I did). When we were dating, we used to dance together a lot. My sister got married to his brother-in-law, and we would compete over who danced better. The winner would get Rs 50. It was always me who won!"

Sunita also revealed that she was offered a lead role in Tan Badan (1986), Govinda’s debut film. Despite the opportunity, she declined, citing no interest in pursuing a film career.




On Time Out with Ankit, Sunita spoke about her efforts to adapt to Govinda’s preferences during their early relationship. She shared, “I used to wear miniskirts initially, but Govinda expressed his discomfort with my clothing choices. For my first meeting with his mother, I decided to wear a saree to make a good impression.”

Govinda recently faced a challenging moment when he accidentally misfired his revolver, injuring his leg on October 1, 2024. The actor, 61, was hospitalized in Mumbai and discharged on October 4. Sunita remained by his side throughout and kept fans updated on his condition.



Married since 1987, when Sunita was just 18, the couple has weathered ups and downs while raising their two children, Yashvardhan Ahuja and Tina Ahuja.
