In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Grusha recollected the day they called her for the project. They informed her that it's for a show on Sunny’s life. The actress reacted with anger, questioning how they had the audacity to approach her for this. She thought that Sunny’s mother forced her into the porn industry and was scared at that time. She rejected the film.

But later, Grusha agreed to meet the director after their continuous effort to connect with her. She expected it to be a dingy place with alcohol bottles and someone like Ranjit sitting there. However, she found Aditya Dutt and his full team there as she entered their office. The actress described them as such a lovely team.

Grusha agreed to do the role as she got convinced about OTT and the show. She marked it as one of the toughest roles she has ever done in her life. Sunny’s mother was an alcoholic, so she also had to play such a role on screen.

‘Karenjit Kaur – The Untold Story’ is based on the life of Sunny Leone. It also starred Raj Arjun, Rysa Saujani, Karamvir Lamba, and Bijay Jasjit Anand. The show, with three seasons, unveiled the story of how she ended up acting in an adult movie due to financial issues in her family.
