Guneet to lead Women In Film’s India chapter
On Thursday at Cannes, Women In Film (WIF), Los Angeles announced that it is launching an India chapter.
It was announced that Academy Award-winning producer Guneet Monga Kapoor will lead WIF: India. Guneet shared,"Last year in September, I attended the Women in Films International Summit in Helsinki, where I met some incredible women from WIFTI (Women in Film & Television International Chapter) who are working to further empower more women in the industry. I strongly felt the need to build a peer group of women in film in India, where they can be heard and seen. I wanted to double down on that and initiate a change in policies. "
She added,"Today, I’m honoured and delighted to build the Women in Film: India Chapter to champion gender equity in the industry. I’m truly grateful to Film Paris Region and WIF for announcing this new chapter for India at the Cannes Film Festival 2024.There are so many women in the industry who’ve had a tough journey, I hope WIF: India makes it easier for the ones coming ahead."
The initiative, part of the global WIFTI (Women In Film & Television International) network, is committed to advancing gender equity in Indian screen industries.
Guneet says that she hopes to build parity and to create opportunities for women seeking careers in the screen industries.”
