'Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos': Mithila Palkar says she lost count of slapping Vir Das ; says, 'We stopped counting'
Talking about the trailer Mithila said in an interview with NDTV, "In the trailer alone, I think it's at least five times. But honestly, we've lost count. Even while shooting the song, we stopped counting." The scene was shot many times, and each take needed a real slap to look right on screen.
The slaps were not planned in a fake or safe way. There was no trick camera angle or sound effect. Vir Das wanted the action to be real. Mithila shared how clear he was about this choice. She said, "He kept saying 'You have to slap. Otherwise the effect won't be the same if you're just acting.'"
This made the shoot harder for her. Slapping someone again and again was not easy for Mithila. She openly admitted that this kind of action does not come naturally to her. She said, "It's not my instinct to slap anyone."
Things became even more difficult during certain shots. Mithila revealed that for one particular scene, she had to slap Vir Das four times. She explained the reason in a simple way. She said, "For one shot I had to slap him four times because I just couldn't get it right."
Even though it was uncomfortable, both actors continued shooting until they got the scene right. Mithila kept trying, and Vir Das kept taking the slaps, all for the sake of the scene. The result is a moment that looks very real and strong on screen.
'Happy Patel' also became a special film for Mithila for another reason. The movie features Aamir Khan in a special role. Mithila spoke about meeting him for the first time and shared that she froze during that moment. It was a big milestone for her to share space with such a senior and respected actor.
At the box office, 'Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos' showed a small improvement on Day 2. The film earned around Rs 1.50 crore India net on its second day as per early estimates by the Sacnilk website. This helped the total collection reach Rs 2.75 crore in two days. While the numbers are not very big the film is holding at a steady level for now.
