‘Housefull 5’: Amitabh Bachchan and Anil Kapoor were offered important roles in the film? Here’s what we know

The much-awaited comedy film ‘Housefull 5’ hit the theatres on Friday, June 6, and has been a big hit with the audience. The movie had a strong opening weekend and quickly joined the Rs 100 crore club in just four days in India. The film features a long list of popular stars including, Akshay Kumar, Abhishek A Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh, Jacqueline Fernandez, Sonam Bajwa, Nargis Fakhri, Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff, Nana Patekar, Chitrangada Singh, Fardeen Khan, Chunky Pandey, Johnny Lever, Shreyas Talpade, Dino Morea, Ranjeet, Soundarya Sharma, Nikitin Dheer and Akashdeep Sabir.

But it turns out the makers wanted to make the cast even more grand by including two legendary actors – Amitabh Bachchan and Anil Kapoor. Here’s what we know about the casting surprises behind ‘Housefull 5’.
Anil Kapoor was the first choice to play a cop
According to Bollywood Hungama, Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar were the original choices to play two police officers in the film. The makers were hoping to bring back the fun pairing of Anil and Nana, who were loved for their roles Uday-Majnu in ‘Welcome’.

However, the report stated, “Anil declined the offer. Hence, Sajid Nadiadwala decided to have Sanjay Dutt and Jackie Shroff as the cops. That combination also works as they both appeared in ‘Khal Nayak’ (1993).” So, after Anil said no, Sanjay and Jackie stepped in. And their pairing also made sense because of their past on-screen connection.
Big B was offered a major role
The same report further revealed, “Amitabh Bachchan was offered the role of the senior cop. He respectfully declined, probably because he is 80+ and is selective about his roles. Nana was already a part of the film and hence, he was given the role of the senior cop that was originally intended for Big B,”

Had Big B accepted the role, it would have been exciting to see him share the screen with his son, Abhishek Bachchan, who is also in the film. His presence might have made the movie even more popular
‘Housefull 5’ Box office collection
Meanwhile, ‘Housefull 5’ is still doing well at the box office. Despite a slight dip in numbers midweek, the film continues to attract audiences. As per early estimates from Sacnilk.com, the comedy earned around Rs 10.75 crore on Tuesday. This takes the total collection in India to a strong Rs 111.25 crore.
