I am drawn to realistic, grounded stories, says Gajanan Aao Phir Ek Baar actress Anupama Prakash
Actor-producer Anupama Prakash says she is passionate about creating meaningful opportunities for deserving actors through her production house, Kaccha Lemmon Productions. Having worked across Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi industries in projects like Risknamaa, Prabha Ki Diary and Farzi Kaka, Anupama says her focus has always been on authentic storytelling.
“I saw that many people in the industry struggle to get opportunities. Some producers call actors for work but don’t actually give them proper opportunities, which wastes their time. I wanted to change that by creating a platform where deserving and struggling actors get genuine opportunities,” she says.
Speaking about the kind of stories she connects with, Anupama adds, “I am drawn to realistic, grounded stories that reflect real-life situations and emotions.”
The actor-producer says she works closely with writers and directors before greenlighting any project. “We only move forward with stories we truly connect with, and we also make sure to maintain quality by being selective about the projects we choose,” she shares.
While entertainment is important, Anupama believes content should also carry depth. “Entertainment is very important, but content should also have meaning. I try to balance both by choosing stories that are engaging as well as authentic,” she says.
Opening up about the challenges of production, she says, “There are many challenges—financial constraints, managing teams, and maintaining a certain lifestyle in the industry. It’s a continuous process of learning and adapting.”
On casting actors, she adds, “I don’t select actors just based on appearance—they must have real acting ability and be comfortable in front of the camera.”
Looking ahead, Anupama says she hopes to grow both as an actor and producer. “I want to continue growing both as an actor and a producer and eventually establish myself as a well-known name in Bollywood and even globally,” she concludes.
