‘We have a lavish family lunch on this day’
Talking about Navroz celebrations, he shares, “Our day starts early; we offer a prayer and wear new clothes. The first thing I do is visit an agiyari, where I thank the Almighty for the year I had, and for the upcoming one as well. We have a lavish family lunch filled with fun conversations and laughter and visit some relatives in the evening. We end our day with a delicious Parsi dinner.”

Freddy's Navroz celebration ends with lavish dinner with his family

Asked about his favourite Navroz dishes, Freddy says, “I love all the Parsi dishes, but my favourite is meethi sev, seviyan cooked specially without milk, and meetho ravo (halwa). I eat these delicacies every year.”

‘These celebrations keep us alive’
Freddy believes that with time, “the way Navroz is celebrated has changed”, adding, “It’s true for every festival. I believe in community feeling and creating an environment at home where children feel inspired to celebrate festivals. Passing on this enthusiasm, about how to celebrate, to the future generation is very important. Such celebrations keep us alive, rooted and give us a sense of belonging to our family, society and culture.”

"I don’t follow any schedule and there are no diet restrictions on Navroz. Such days deserve special celebrations"

"I get gifts every year. The most special Navroz gift was in 1996 when my parents gifted me a new bicycle. I was super excited and rode it for many years"
