Kalki Koechlin spoke about how heartbreak affected her mental and physical well-being. She revealed that the emotional distress translated into serious sleep issues over several months. "I did have a series of months of insomnia from heartbreak, and it really made me realise how psychological it all is."
Kalki Koechlin's sleepless nights
The actress described how her nights became restless and unpredictable during that period. She shared that she often woke up in the middle of the night without being able to return to sleep. "I just could not sleep, I would wake up at 2 or 3 in the morning and end up playing the guitar or doing something to occupy myself, because there was no way of going back to sleep." Engaging in small activities became her way of managing those long hours.
Kalki also recalled how the lack of sleep began affecting her work routine. She said that the constant fatigue left her feeling disoriented and mentally drained. "On the days I had to work, I remember feeling like I didn't know if I was in a dream state or awake, I was really confused, wondering, 'Is this really happening, or am I still asleep?' It went on like that for about four months," she further revealed.
Personal life of Kalki Koechlin
On the personal front, Kalki was earlier married to filmmaker Anurag Kashyap. After their separation, she found companionship with her partner Guy Hershberg. The couple welcomed their daughter Sappho in 2020. Kalki Koechlin's last released film was the English-language drama 'Goldfish'.
