Imran Khan’s first visit to the Taj Mahal — the symbol of a man’s eternal love for his wife — was sans his biwi Avantika Malik. The actor, who is shooting for Mere Brother Ki Dulhan at the mausoleum (built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in the memory of his third wife Mumtaz Mahal) wanted to share the experience with his wife of three months.
On the spur of the moment, he organised a charter flight to fly down Mrs Khan to Delhi and there on to Agra by road to experience one of the most recognisable structures in the world, with him.
On Saturday morning at 5 am, the husband and wife spent a good two hours getting a guided tour to the Taj. Of course, special permissions were needed, and the actor took care of that.
Says an insider, “He arranged for Avantika to fly down overnight and arranged for a tour of the Taj Mahal, when there were no crowds to mar the experience. He wanted a detailed tour, which included the premises and the garden etc. It is learnt that even some areas, which are not open to visitors, were thrown open for the couple.”
Imran confirms arranging the trip for Avantika, “I just felt like visiting the place with Avantika, since I was already shooting there.”
