It is learnt that noted producer N. R. Pachisia and Dipankar Jojo Chaki have acquired the rights of the book, and are currently developing it with Author Anand Neelkantan who is known for his books based on the Indian epics of Ramayana and

Mahabharata

.

Confirming the same Chitra said, “I am excited as The Palace of Illusions is perfectly suited for a spectacular on-screen adaptation. Mahabharat as a story is powerful, dramatic and most importantly relevant to our lives both as men and women today.

When asked, Pachisia, he said: “Yes, we have acquired the rights of the book, but at this point, it is too early to talk about it, given the interest around it.”

The much talked about book tells the epic tale of the Mahabharata from the viewpoint of

Draupadi

, regarded as one of the most important female characters of the Indian epic.

“I am sure this is going to be a grand as Mr. Pachisia and Dipankar da will get the best team on board for every aspect.” added Chitra.

Relevant to today’s war-torn world, The Palace of Illusions takes us back to Mahabharat—a time that is half-history, half-myth, and wholly magical. Through her narrator Panchaali, the wife of five Pandavas brothers, Divakaruni gives us a rare interpretation of an epic story.

It will be interesting to see how this mega project shapes up.
