URI: The Surgical Strike' was one of hit film of 2019 featuring
Vicky Kaushal and
Yami Gautam in the lead. In the film, Yami played the role of an officer which was much different from her earlier character in '
Vicky Donor
'. But, Yami portrayed both the role very well and created her niche in the industry.
'URI' will complete 100 days in theatres on April 22, while 'Vicky Donor' completes 7 years today. This movement is a double celebration for Yami as both the films has done great business.
Speaking on the special occasion, Yami reportedly said that today is the day when 'Vicky Donor' was released seven years ago, and a momentous coincidence is that it is also is the 100th of ‘URI...’ at the theatres. Both films have truly drawn a very important place in her career. Yami also added that that she is grateful that she has two reasons to be in a celebratory mood for.
'Vicky Donor' was based on the relevant issue of
sperm donation
where Yami was seen along with
Ayushmann Khurrana and it was one of the hits of that year.
'URI' was directed by Aditya Dhar, while 'Vicky Donor' was helmed by
Shoojit Sircar. 'URI' was released in January where Vicky Kaushal played the role of an army officer and Yami as an intelligence officer. In 'Vicky Donor', she played Ayushmann's wife.
