With the 3D version of Ramesh Sippy’s 1975 classic 'Sholay' almost complete, the makers are planning a lavish premiere that will see the original cast reunite after 38 years.
Producer Jayantilal Gada and the Sippy brothers - Sascha, Shaan and Shehzad have decided to invite veteran actors Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan and Hema Malini as well as scriptwriter duo Salim-Javed to the do, which is most likely to take place in October.

When contacted, Gada confirmed the news and said, “We will surely have a mega celebration. The industry has already extended a lot of support, and come October, we will celebrate with the entire cast and the rest of the film fraternity to mark the return of the greatest film ever made.”
Apparently, with the 1975 film having released the same day, August 15 was initially locked as the date the 3D version would hit theatres. But with several big-ticket movies releasing that day, the 3D release was postponed to September 13 in a bid to coincide with the birth anniversary of Sholay’s producer, GP Sippy. Again, technical glitches and the absence of a vacant slot forced a further delay to sometime in October.
With the plan in place, the makers are now in the process of booking a suburban multiplex for the event that will see Bollywood legends under the same roof after a yawning gap.
Said Gada, “We don’t want to compete with any film. We will show the film to exhibitors and distributors so that they know how big the project is and give us a good run."
