Jaideep Ahlawat has been one of the key discoveries of 2020. Apart from the digital space, the actor was seen in prominent films like

Baaghi 3

and Khaali Peeli. Known for his turn in Meghna Gulzar’s

Raazi

(produced by

Junglee Pictures

),

Jaideep

became the talk of town for the depth he lends to characters.

Jaideep says, “I don’t feel a sense of pressure. I am happy people like my work in 2020 but when you start working on a character, you do it with the intention of being able to do something unique with it to entertain the audience. That will always be my motto. Yes, I am now thinking aage kya karna hai. How should I keep the momentum going? I just know that I have to bring something novel to the table each time I step into a character. Kuch aisa karun jo pehle na kiya ho.”

It has taken Jaideep more than 10 years to get this far. He started off playing smaller and less significant characters like those in

Gangs of Wasseypur

and Commando. He gradually rose to the ranks of a key supporting actor with Alia Bhatt’s Raazi and has never looked back since then. In all these years, the actor’s wife Jyoti Hooda-Ahlawat stood by his side like a rock.

Talking about how grateful he feels about it, Jaideep says, “I salute the spouses of actors for what they put up with; for their patience. They are living with difficult people. Bardaasht karna mushkil hota hai actoron ko. They deserve a gallantry award for preserving artistes. No one knows better than a spouse when an actor is disturbed, worried because of prep or any other thing that happened on the set. It takes a lot to live with that. I don’t think I have ever let Jyoti down as a husband, I’ve always tried to give it my all. I believe the best partnerships between a husband and wife are built when each other’s needs, they know that they have to stand together and help each other. That is what matters the most.”

Jaideep’s wife Jyoti adds, “It’s been a roller coaster. These 10 years had their own ups and downs but when you have a supportive partner who is receptive towards your feelings, it becomes a smooth ride. That’s life. And that’s fine. It’s been a fun ride with Jaideep.”
