Content wise, 2022 has been a spectacular year, with a host of movies playing on both the big screen and OTT with genres ranging from romance, thriller, sports, horror and more. However, behind the big budget, glossy blockbusters were some hidden gems that you might have missed. Here's revisiting the most fantastic, yet underrated movies of the year and where to watch them...

Set in Delhi's eastside neighbourhood of Trilokpuri, the movie follows a three day period in the aftermath of the assassination of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in 1984, following Operation Blue Star. Starring Diljit Dosanjh, Hiten Tejwani and others, the movie follows the noble efforts of three friends from different faiths as they attempt to save hundreds of people in the city amid rising tensions. Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, the movie is available on Netflix.

This sports drama is a comic of age movie, following the story of a 13-year-old boy who sees his father lose the 1994 Club Snooker Championship. Gutted, he vows to give his all to bring the trophy back home. Directed by Mridul Mahendra, the movie stars Sanjay Dutt, late Rajiv Kapoor and Dalip Tahil. You can watch it now on Netflix.

Vijay Barse, a retired sports teacher gets some slum children to form a football team in a bid to keep them away from violence, drugs and theft. When the kids start getting invested in the sport more than expected, he decides to pull all stops to get them into the National Tournament. Directed by Nagraj Manjule, the movie stars Amitabh Bachchan in the main lead. You can now watch it on Netflix.

The movie, based on the life of Indian cricketer Pravin Tambe is the inspiring story of a man who made his debut for the IPL team Rajasthan Royals at the age of 41. The movie charts his trials and tribulations and as it turns out, the now 51-year-old still continues to play cricket! Starring Shreyas Talpade in the titular role, this Disney + Hotstar special was directed by Jayprad Desai.

Two strong women, two fearless mothers. While one is a powerful journalist, the other one is a domestic house help. What happens when their worlds collide and oblivious to each other, the two go through a tragedy that changes their lives forever. Starring Shefali Shah and Vidya Balan, Jalsa premiered on Prime Video.

A psychological crime thriller, Chup: Revenge of the Artist is about a mysterious serial killer on the loose in Mumbai, who incidentally murders only film critics giving out biased reviews. As the killings keep getting more gruesome, the cops are forced to think of alternative options to nab the psychopath. Directed by R Balki and starring Sunny Deol, Dulquer Salmaan, Shreya Dhanwanthary, Pooja Bhatt and Amitabh Bachchan, the movie is now streaming on ZEE5.
