Kareena Kapoor Khan and Shahid Kapoor's superhit film 'Jab We Met' celebrates its 16th anniversary this year, having been released on October 26, 2007. To mark this milestone, Kareena recently shared an interesting insight into how she came to work on the iconic project. In an interview with Mid-Day, she disclosed that Shahid Kapoor played a pivotal role in convincing her to take on the film.

Kareena explained that at that time, she had been without work for about a year and a half, primarily because she was being selective and turning down prominent projects. She was in search of a specific type of film that resonated with her vision. It was then that fate intervened when director Imtiaz Ali reached out to Shahid Kapoor and narrated the script of 'Jab We Met.' Interestingly, both Kareena and Shahid were not previously acquainted with Imtiaz since he had just directed 'Socha Na Tha.' While Kareena hadn't yet watched the film, Shahid had seen it and was supportive of Imtiaz's work.

Kareena shared that Imtiaz's approach to the project was sudden and unexpected, and Shahid encouraged her to consider the role. Shahid assured her it was an excellent opportunity, and Kareena agreed to take on the film. She confessed that she couldn't have foreseen the monumental success and iconic status 'Jab We Met' would eventually achieve.

At the time, Kareena had also signed up for ''Tashan,' which she believed would be a significant film. But, unexpectedly, 'Tashan' underperformed at the box office while 'Jab We Met' became one of her most iconic and beloved films. The film resonated deeply with fans and critics alike, solidifying its place in the romantic comedy genre's hall of fame.

As 'Jab We Met' completes its 16th year, Kareena's candid revelation about the film's inception adds an intriguing layer to its celebrated history.
