Kashmiri cinema takes the global stage with Tasrufdaar London premiere
Tasrufdaar (Djinns of Kashmir) is set to premiere in London at the UK Asian Film Festival on May 7 at Rich Mix. The film is being screened as part of a curated showcase presented by filmmaker Sudhir Mishra.
Director and producer Kapil Mattoo said in a social media post, “It’s one thing to see a film about Kashmir; it’s another to see a Kashmiri film made by Kashmiris, telling our own stories and standing tall on an international stage. This premiere means everything to us. It’s a moment of reclamation and a celebration of our storytelling.”
Thanking his collaborators, he added, “This journey wouldn’t have been possible without the talent and dedication of my team and collaborators.”
The cast includes Ashwath Bhat, Mir Sarwar, Bashir Lone, Shafia Maqbool and Aurooba Javed.
