‘Kaun?’

Long before streaming platforms became widely popular, 'Kaun?' set the standard for confined-space thrillers and is currently available on ZEE5. With Urmila Matondkar's eerie frontispiece and Manoj Bajpayee's unpredictable mania, the film relies primarily on claustrophobic tension and psychological indecision. An atmospheric slow-burn engages the viewer and maintains the nuanced questions of character motivation.

2/7

‘Andhadhun’

Sriram Raghavan’s 'Andhadhun', currently available on Netflix, is a darkly comedic and unpredictable thriller that keeps surprising audiences. Ayushmann Khurrana captivates as a blind pianist implicated in a murder plot, infusing intelligence and humor into the character and constantly testing audience perspectives. Witty writing and wild plot developments also make it one of the best Indian thrillers of recent years.

3/7

‘Drishyam’

‘Drishyam’, streaming on Netflix, is still one of the best thrillers that Indian cinema has to offer, years after its release. The film stars Ajay Devgn in the role of a father who will do anything for his family, while complex plotting and skilled direction create an edge-of-the-seat experience for the viewer. The film's performance in unique moments of suspense and unanticipated plot developments offer a real lesson in storytelling mastery.

4/7

‘Gone Girl’

David Fincher's 'Gone Girl' is a chilling study of marriage, lies and psychological manipulation, streaming on Prime Video. Based on Gillian Flynn's best-selling novel, Rosamund Pike is unsettling as Amy Dunne, while Ben Affleck convinces as a husband caught up in suspicion. Every scene slowly unveils another disturbing aspect of their relationship that keeps even the most distracted viewers firmly glued to the story.

5/7

‘Talvar’

Meghna Gulzar's Talvar, available on Disney+ Hotstar and scripted by Vishal Bhardwaj, is a nuanced dramatization of the Aarushi Talwar case. The film presents several different versions of the same crime, challenging viewers to consider the ways bias and perception shape truth. Though it follows the conventions of a whodunit, it is more interesting and substantial film that explores justice, morality, and the role of media.

6/7

‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’

The Spanish movie 'The Invisible Guest', (as titled in English from the original 'Contratiempo'), streaming also on Netflix, follows a businessman who has been accused of murder. The pacing is carefully considered; the film reveals truths, secrets, and lies in breathtaking order. Each twist redefines character motivations ultimately leading to a jaw-dropping ending that few people will anticipate. An engaging watch from beginning to end.
