It's that time of the year when the process of nominating the Indian entry to the Oscars begin. The Film Federation of India (FFI) has approached Ketan Mehta to head the jury that will select India's official entry to the Oscars.

Supran Sen, secretary general of Film Federation of India (FFI), 'It's true that Ketan Mehta is going to be the jury chairman this year. He will be chairing a jury of 16-17 members from the film industry.'


Letters have been sent out to many members in the film fraternity requesting them to be a part of the jury. 'However, I can't reveal any names till we get the confirmation letters,' Sen said.

Applications from films that are vying to be India's official entry at the 89th Academy awards have already started reaching FFI. As of now, some eight odd films have applied. More entries are expected to expected to trickle in. The last date for receiving applications is September 10.

Last year, the FFI jury, headed by actor-director Amol Palekar, had sent Chaitanya Tamhane's 'Court' to the Oscars.
