Controversies and Ram Gopal Varma go hand-in-hand. The list of RGV films that ran into controversy will be a long one, if one tries to make one. Now, his latest venture,
‘Killing Veerappan’ has run into controversy as a petition has been filed against the film.
‘Killing Veerappan’, a multi-lingual film, is based on the operation that killed the dreaded sandalwood bandit from Tamil Nadu, Veerappan. The film stars Shivaraj Kumar, Sandeep Bharadwaj and Parul Yadav.
A lady from the Salem district of Tamil Nadu has filed a suit in the Madras High Court seeking a stay on the release of the film on the grounds of spreading “false information”, as reported by DNA. The petitioner has come up with the allegation after watching the trailer of ‘Killing Veerappan’.
She has alleged that the film spreads false information that can create a law and order problem in the state. She has also allegedly accused the film for degrading Tamilians, Tamil Nadu police and politicians and women in particular.
‘Killing Veerappan’ is all set to release nation-wide on January 1, 2016.
