Kriti Sanon, Kartik Aaryan, R Madhavan: Celebrities who left engineering to chase Bollywood dreams

According to Zee News, Kriti Sanon graduated from Jaypee Institute of Information and Technology (Noida) with a Bachelor of Technology degree in Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering. Kriti had great grades; however, she opted to focus on becoming an actor instead. Kriti’s first film was ‘Heropanti,’ in which she had great success and continues to act across multiple genres of film.

Coming from a family of doctors, Kartik Aaryan pursued biotechnology engineering in Navi Mumbai. While attending college, he actively chased acting opportunities and even enrolled in acting workshops. His persistence eventually led to a breakthrough with ‘Pyaar Ka Punchnama’, proving that balancing academics and ambition can sometimes lead to unexpected success.

R Madhavan completed his education in electronics after studying in Jamshedpur and Kolhapur. He even represented India as a cultural ambassador in Canada before returning to finish his degree. Late actor, Sushant Singh Rajput enrolled in mechanical engineering at Delhi College of Engineering but eventually dropped out to pursue theatre in Mumbai. A brilliant student with a deep interest in astrophysics, he once aspired to become an astronaut. Riteish Deshmukh holds a degree in architectural engineering from Mumbai’s Kamla Raheja College of Architecture. He even worked with an overseas architectural firm before turning to films. Choosing creativity over design, he went on to build a successful acting career with popular films like ‘Masti’, blending humour with mainstream appeal.

Ameesha Patel studied bio-genetic engineering at Tufts University in Boston before switching her major to economics. Despite her academic pursuits abroad, she found herself drawn to the world of cinema. Her Bollywood debut in ‘Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai’ turned her into an overnight sensation, redefining her professional journey completely.

Taapsee Pannu earned a degree in Computer Science Engineering from Guru Tegh Bahadur Institute of Technology in New Delhi and even worked as a software engineer. However, her interest in performance led her to audition for television. She eventually entered films with her Telugu debut ‘Jhummandi Naadam’, carving a strong niche for herself across industries.
