‘Laapataa Ladies’ star Pratibha Ranta talks about her unique connection with Preity Zinta

Pratibha Ranta is gaining attention for her recent appearances in two well-acclaimed projects, Kiran Rao's ‘Laapataa Ladies’ and Sanjay Leela Bhansali's ‘Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar’. The TV star made her debut with Kiran's directorial venture and is now winning hearts with SLB’s OTT debut series. Pratibha earlier explained the unique connection she shares with actress Preity Zinta and how movies and actors influenced her throughout her journey.

In an old interview with PTI, Pratibha Ranta shared that she studied in the same school where Preity Zinta also completed her schooling. Pratibha’s friends used to tease her mentioning her aspiration for acting. Preity Zinta is from her hometown, Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. When everyone called her Preity Zinta or teased with comments like, 'Dekho, heroine aa rahi hai.' (see the actress is coming), she decided to become a star like Preity.


In a chat with Indian Express, the young actress recalled what her family members used to tell her. Preity Zinta was the only one who made it to the industry from that place for the longest time. Her family reminded her that everybody’s destiny will not be like Preity’s. She heard people murmuring about her being an actress and going to Mumbai.

In the same interview, Pratibha stated that she was offered ‘Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar’ after wrapping ‘Laapata Ladies’. She wishes to play the lead role in SLB films in the future.
