Mahir Pandhi says he wanted to explore Mumbai slang deeply for Vimal Khanna
Mahir Pandhi, known for OTT projects like Pawan & Pooja, Bebaakee and Jee Karda, is currently seen as Bosco in Vimal Khanna. Describing his character, Mahir said, “Bosco is technically the caretaker of the house, but he’s rowdy, strong, upfront and bold. This is the first time that I got the opportunity to play a character rooted in Mumbai. Speaking in the local slang is a completely different experience altogether.”
Sharing why he took up the role, he said, “One of the main reasons was working with a big name like Saket Chaudhary. Director Abhinav Pareek sir is someone who is now like family. Audiences have never seen me in anything remotely close to this. Doing something that is not close to my core personality is always fun.”
Talking about his preparation, Mahir revealed, “I would rather delve deeper into the slang and actually discover more. One option had a very Goan-heavy language style, another had a strong Konkani influence, and the final version is a mix with a strong Mumbaikar Marathi-Hindi slang flavour.”
The actor also opened up about working across television, films and OTT platforms. “TV, films and OTT — the environment depends on the kind of pressure involved. Television gives you technical knowledge and sharpness, while web is somewhere in between. Films feel more like a vacation because scenes are planned properly and people take their time,” he said. Mahir also spoke about his international projects, including his American debut Daniel alongside Mena Massoud and Congrats My Ex! with Bella Ranee Campen and Bright Vachirawit.
