Mahira Khan hits back at trolls over Shah Rukh Khan remarks; Says, 'Main apne aap kabhi nahi baat karti unke baare mein'

Pakistani actress Mahira Khan, who has been a prominent face opposite Shah Rukh Khan in the 2017 film 'Raees,' recently responded to the constant trolling she receives about her connection with the Bollywood superstar. Mahira has always spoken openly about her admiration for Shah Rukh in interviews, which has led some social media users to criticize her for allegedly using his name for attention and publicity. At the Aalami Urdu Conference 2024 in Karachi, Mahira clapped back at these trolls with a dose of sass and wit.

Talking about her experience of working with Shah Rukh Khan, Mahira said that this is one question she is asked in almost every interview. Instead of giving up, she stated that she simply couldn't get enough of the conversations regarding the King of Bollywood and showed genuine love for the co-star. She explained that If someone asks me, then I give them the answer. "Phir logon ko lagta hai ke main unke baare mein baat kar rahi hun.Main apne aap kabhi nahi baat karti unke baare mein," she added.

This statement clears that she only responds when asked and never brings up Shah Rukh on her own. Mahira also used the moment to shut down the publicity-seeking allegations and said, "Mujhe yeh hota hai ke aap mujhse puchiye hee nai unke baare mein phir." The bold reply was a straight message to the trolls that she was not going to shy away from talking about her experiences and the people she respects, especially when they have something to do with her profession.

Mahira Khan's performance as Shah Rukh's love interest in 'Raees' was highly appreciated. Her nuanced portrayal of a powerful yet vulnerable character, juxtaposed against the backdrop of politically charged Gujarat, earned her all the critical acclaim. A standout moment in the movie was the romantic song "Zalima," sung by Arijit Singh and Harshdeep Kaur. It beautifully showcased the on-screen chemistry between Mahira and Shah Rukh.

This goes to show that the project was big, as Bollywood ace actresses Deepika Padukone, Kareena Kapoor, and Anushka Sharma were approached for the movie. Director Rahul Dholakia shared with a YouTube video by casting director Mukesh Chhabra about how all of them backed off for some reason or other. It was more a matter of luck when he accidentally approached Mahira, who had been in Mumbai at that point in time, for playing a role that would bring a new heroine into the spot.
