Malaika Arora’s mother Joyce breaks down in tears as the family leaves for Anil Mehta's last rites

In a heartbreaking scene, Malaika Arora, her mother Joyce Polycarp, and son Arhaan Khan were spotted leaving for the last rites of Malaika's father, Anil Mehta, who tragically passed away on September 11, 2024. Arhaan was spotted comforting his grandmother during this difficult time.

The family was visibly distraught, with Joyce in tears and Malaika wearing dark sunglasses, likely to conceal her own grief. The trio was seen entering their car, preparing to say their final goodbyes to Anil Mehta, as they headed to the crematorium for the last rites. Malaika shared a close bond with her father Anil Mehta, often photographed having meals together on special occasions like Christmas and New Year. Anil also shared a cherished relationship with his grandson Arhaan, as seen in a family photo Malaika posted, captioned "When my baby decides to take the grown ups out to dinner," showing Anil beaming with pride.

Amrita Arora, along with her husband Shakeel Ladak, was also seen leaving the family home, visibly distressed as she hid her face and quickly got into the car.
Anil Mehta, aged 62, was found dead in the premises of Ayesha Manor in Bandra, Mumbai. A post-mortem was being conducted at Bandra’s Bhabha Hospital and News18 revealed that he passed away due to "multiple injuries". Malaika released a statement expressing profound grief over her father's demise, she shared, "We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our dear father, Anil Mehta. He was a gentle soul, a devoted grandfather, a loving husband, and our best friend. Our family is in deep shock by this loss, and we kindly request privacy from the media and well-wishers during this difficult time. We appreciate your understanding, support and respect."
Several celebrities visited Malaika's residence to offer their condolences. Malaika's former husband, actor and producer Arbaaz Khan, was the first to arrive, followed by his parents Salim and Salma Khan, his brother Sohail and former wife Seema Sajdeh. Kareena Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Ananya Panday, and Chunky Panday were among the others who arrived at the residence to pay their respects.
