What would Malaika Arora like to give Kareena Kapoor and Kriti Sanon for Christmas?
After years of living under studio lights and camera lenses, Malaika Arora says her relationship with beauty has shifted from obligation to instinct. “It’s less about what a set demands and more about expressing my own personality — bold, confident, glam,” says Malaika who's often seen judging reality shows on television.
That doesn’t mean she’s abandoned her love for full glam. Instead, it has evolved. “I still love a full-glam moment, but now I’m more conscious about choosing products that feel comfortable and enhance my features without overwhelming them. Some days I’m drawn to warm, powerful glam, and on other days I want something softer and more diffused. It’s really about tuning into how I feel.”
Being constantly in front of the camera has also taught Malaika how to draw boundaries with makeup. “Because makeup is such a big part of my professional life, I’ve learned to separate what it means on set from how I wear it every day. On camera, it becomes a tool to step into character. Off camera, I like it minimal and comfortable — still expressive, but in a way that feels like me.”
Lipstick, for Malaika, has always been deeply emotional. “A bold red instantly makes me feel powerful and ready to take on the day. Soft nudes reflect my more grounded moments, while pinks bring out a playful side. I choose my lip color based on my energy for the day — it’s my way of expressing who I am at that moment. I remember a stage appearance where I wore a deep red matte shade, and it completely elevated my presence. The moment I applied it, I felt stronger, sharper, and far more in control. It reminded me how transformative beauty can be, even in its simplest form,” says Malaika who's the brand ambassador of HYUE and the face of its campaign - Own it.
That emotional connection extends to how she shares beauty with others. If she were to put together a Christmas lipstick hamper, Kareena Kapoor would be her first pick. “We’ve shared so many moments getting ready together,” Malaika says. “I know she’d have fun playing with classic reds and effortless nudes.” Kriti Sanon would be next. “Her vibe is so fresh and experimental — she can really carry everything from soft pinks to bold festive shades.”
