Manoj Bajpayee to receive the Dadasaheb Phalke award for Aligarh

Congratulations are in order for Manoj Bajpayee. The actor, who turns 47 today, will be honoured with the

Dadasaheb Phalke award

in the Best Actor category (Critics' choice) for his performance in Hansal Mehta's biographical drama,

Aligarh

. It is obvious then that, today, it is time for double celebrations.

Manoj's poignant and matter-of-fact portrayal of the late Marathi professor Ramchandra Siras in the movie got him many rave reviews. In an interview to HT, the actor dedicated the award to Siras and his struggles to face the society. He also thanked director Hansal Mehta, co-actor Raj Kummar Rao along with the team and critics for the award. A critics' actor, in the past, he has won national awards for his performance in 'Satya' and 'Pinjar'.

The actor will next be seen as a traffic constable in 'Traffic Signal', remake of a Malayalam movie by the same name. The movie also stars actor Jimmy Sheirgill, Sachin Khedekar, Prosenjit Chatterjee among others.
