Manoj Bajpayee's 'Ghooskhor Pandat' faces backlash for its title; netizens say, 'Change it immediately or face the boycott'
Manoj Bajpayee is set to star in the film 'Ghooskhor Pandat', and the teaser of the same was revealed recently at an event. An OTT giant unveiled the 2026 lineup of projects on the platform at the event, and the film is one of them. The movie will feature the actor as a corrupt police officer. However, as soon as it was announced, it landed in a controversy. Here's what happened.
However, it was not the film's plot but the title that became the center of the controversy. Social media users called out the makers for targeting a specific community through its title. Netizens demanded a change of title, or the movie will face a boycott.
A person posted, "According to Netflix, terrorism has no religion, but corruption apparently has a caste." Another person added, "I urge @MIB_India to take immediate cognizance of this movie and strictly ask its producers to change movie's derogatory title; otherwise, ban this! How could you do this, @BajpayeeManoj?"
An individual added, "Highly casteist this is. What if a so-called lower caste was called corrupt?" A comment read, "What the hell do you mean by using casteist slurs? And Pakistani versions of the word Pandit? Better change it as soon as you can." Last but not least, a social media user wrote, "Have you gone mad? Using such casteist name to demean one section of society?"
