Did Nancy Tyagi lie about the 'self-stitched' dress?

Why don’t we start with something that was a tad controversial?

Nancy Tyagi, the renowned self-made star designer who worked her way to the top, made the headlines for being at the Cannes Film Festival for the second time in a row. Only this time, the content creator with 3M followers was called out by Neha Bhasin for claiming that the outfit that she claimed was self-stitched wasn’t hers at all.

Neha shared an image of the outfit she wore herself from the concert, highlighting that the corset looked similar. Additionally, the owner of ‘The Source Bombay,’ the fashion store in Bandra, revealed that Nancy purchased the dress for ₹25,000 before alighting at Cannes. However, Surbhi Gupta, the owner, did mention that the overcoat was not her design, suggesting that the apparel might have been of Tyagi.

Nancy has posted the pictures of the outfit on the red carpet, where the caption suggests that it took her a whole month to complete the stitches, which she was working on until the eleventh hour, and revealed that she wanted to wear the outfit made of her mother’s favourite colour.

The return of Alia Bhatt's Kaala Teeka

Alia Bhatt finally made her Cannes Film Festival debut, and she managed to drop jaws with her stunning ensembles. In the debut outfit, the 32-year-old actress wore a beige gown with a sweetheart neckline and with floral white details. While the jewellery was minimal and make-up was on spot, what stole the show was the endearing Kaala Teeka behind her ear.

For the unversed, Kaala Teeka is used to ward off the evil eye, and the netizens were quick to spot it. Moreover, Cannes was not the first time Alia put the little black dot. It was the MET Gala 2024, where Alia wore the stunning Sabyasachi saree, and the Kaala Teeka that made the headlines.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's iconic Sindoor

Aishwarya Rai’s symbolic sparkling red sindoor created a storm on the internet. For the 78th Cannes edition, the 51-year-old actress opted to wear a royal white saree with the intricate golden details, and the gorgeous red jewellery for the pop effect. Along with the ensemble, Rai’s red sindoor created a sensation where netizens assumed that it was a powerful nod at the ‘Operation Sindoor,’ supporting and appreciating the Indian Armed Forces on an international platform.

Along with the ‘Operation Sindoor,’ netizens surmised that the sindoor was her fierce expression of standing strong with her husband, debunking any and all divorce rumours.

Janhvi Kapoor's debut look that resembles Sridevi

Channelling the late Sridevi’s energy, Janhvi Kapoor debuted on the red carpet in a regal crinkled Banarsi lehenga, with a figure-hugging corset, a voluminous skirt, and a dupatta. Combining the tradition with modern chic, Kapoor added pearl jewellery and a sleek hair bun to complete the look.

Janhvi’s debut look has been most talked about on the internet, as many think that the style and look resemble the iconic actress and her mother, Sridevi. The ‘90s glam added a cherry on top to complement and complete the outfit.
