Neena Gupta is one of the actresses who has carved a niche in the industry. It is not just her acting prowess that has helped her gain appreciation, her strong personality has always been a topic of conversation. She became a single parent when the idea was almost alien to Indian society, she asked for work honestly on social media when she didn’t see anything coming her way. She simply never gave up. Initially, when she came to Mumbai for work, leaving her home, she knew she couldn’t look back and thus, she even did roles that were horribly written as her last resort but didn't accept defeat.

In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, the actress revealed some of the roles were so bad, she prayed to God that those movies don’t hit the theatres. When the actress was asked if she had ever done a movie her heart didn’t agree to, Neena replied, “I have done it for years! When I came here to do films we could not even meet the director. I used to do very bad, stupid, horribly written roles like that of a servant. But I had no other solution. I came against my parents' wishes so I did not want to take money from them.”

“I have done so much bad roles that sometimes I used to pray to God ki ye release nahi ho ye picture (wish that the film does not release) because it was so bad. My value is that I will suffer but I will not ask for money. That is my value,” added the actress.

On the personal front, Neena Gupta recently became a grandmother. Her daughter and fashion designer Masaba Gupta has been blessed with a baby girl. Neena plans to be a hands-on grandmother as she knows with the baby comes a lot of responsibilities.
