Last week, Neeta Lulla showcased her collection for the Bombay Times Fashion Week’s curtain raiser. Her collection was an amalgamation of contemporary fashion with traditional ethnicity.
While talking about the collection, Neeta said, “While my core aesthetic is rooted in rich Indian tradition, the collection embraces a lighter, more contemporary femininity. Drawing inspiration from the Edwardian era, the collection features a seamless blend of vintage laces, brocades, and broderie, with whimsical ruffles and dreamy fabrics paired with a vibrant palette of summer colours and hues of pastel, the collection resonates with the romantic spirit of the modern woman. By blending the traditional with modern comfort- the collection, caters to not just the modern bride but any woman who wants to add a touch of opulence and historical allure to her wardrobe.”
While models walked the ramp, the one thing that was evident was Neeta’s keen eye on the blouses. She admits the blouses in the collection held a “special place”. “Often, blouses can be overlooked, but they have the power to elevate an entire outfit. In this collection, I poured a lot of love into intricate detailing – think delicate embroidery and unexpected textures – to make each blouse a statement piece.”
Soon to be actress Shanaya Kapoor was the show-stopper for Neeta’s collection. While multiple actresses have walked for Neeta, ask her how Shanaya fared, she said, “Shanaya was a delight! She has a captivating presence and embodies the modern elegance of the collection, beautifully. Of course, there's always pressure on a showstopper, especially as the length of the walk on the outdoor space of 25 South was long but Shanaya handled it with poise and confidence. We were happy to have her debut walk for House of Neeta Lulla.”
