Neetu Chandra’s ‘audition’ play lands her a period film

Neetu Chandra is upbeat that her play Umrao Jaan has been chosen for a national theatre festival in Delhi.
Her act, which sees her ageing from 17 to 70, has won her praise from Kajol, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ekta Kapoor, Imtiaz Ali as well as Rekha Bhardwaj, who has composed the music for the play.

When she started working on the play, the actress was told to treat it like an audition for a period film that was being planned with her.Now, work on the period film, which revolves around a folk singer-turned-revolutionary, has begun.
Apparently, Naseeruddin Shah, Pankaj Kapur and Manoj Bajpayee have also given their nod to this movie. She says, “To be a good actor, you have to be willing to break rules and strive for something new. Naseer sir, Pankajji and Manoj, who I look up to, keep reminding me of this every time.”
