Niharika Konidela, Aryan Khan, Sussanne Khan: When celebrities landed in controversies because of police raids

Police raids are common in every city. However, when a celebrity’s name surfaces, it creates a storm on the internet. While some celebrities came forward to clear up their names in alleged police raids, others were simply detained on the spot causing even bigger drama in the end. Take a look at such cases in the entertainment industry:

Tollywood actress Niharika Konidela is all over the news after she was taken into custody alongside Rahul Sipligunj with 150 others at Hyderabad’s Banjara Hills police station after a raid was conducted at a city pub on Sunday morning. An investigation is currently underway after the Task Force filed a case against the pub management for keeping the venue open beyond the permitted time. Reportedly, prohibited substances have also been recovered from the pub.

Last year, in October, Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan hit headlines after he was arrested along with his friend Arbaaz Merchant and Munmun Dhamecha after the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) raided a Goa-bound cruise ship off the Mumbai coast. The raid was led by NCB zonal chief Sameer Wankhede. Later Aryan was granted bail by the Bombay High Court after spending 25 days in Byculla jail. Currently, the case is being probed by NCB’s SIT.

Hrithik Roshan's ex-wife Sussanne Khan was allegedly booked for violating social distancing norms at Mumbai’s plush club. Alongside her, cricketer Suresh Raina and singer Guru Randhawa’s names had also surfaced for the same. Reacting to the speculations, Khan had said in a statement, “Last night I was at a close friend’s birthday dinner & a few of us extended to the Dragon Fly club at JW Marriott, Sahar. At 2.30 am the authorities entered the club. Whilst the club management and the authorities were sorting things out, all the guests present were asked to wait for a period of three hours. We were finally allowed to leave at 6 am. Therefore, the speculation by parts of the media that there were arrests made are completely incorrect and also irresponsible.”

In 2020, everyone knew who Kapil Jhaveri was after cops raided his villa in Vagator where he held a party amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Reportedly, an arrest of 23 people including three foreign nationals and the actor was made alongside recovering almost Rs 9 lakh worth of narcotics substances reportedly. After spending almost 10 days in custody, the actor was finally granted bail by the Principal Sessions Court on a personal bond of Rs 50,000 and a surety of the same amount.
