Paparazzo opens up about Jaya Bachchan's frustration with photographers: 'She hates it when they spot her off-guard'
Veteran actress Jaya Bachchan has a well-known love-hate relationship with the paparazzi. Over the years, she’s had several encounters with the paparazzi, from giving stern looks to even scolding and shouting at them while asking for privacy. Recently, celebrity photographer Manav Manglani shared his thoughts on why Jaya Bachchan behaves this way.
In an interview with Aleena Dissects, Manav mentioned that Jaya Bachchan isn’t accustomed to the large presence of media today. He explained that during her time, there were only a few people, and they approached things more gently. "Now, the media has massively increased… She doesn’t mind them when they are at a press conference or film premiere. She hates it when they spot her off-guard. She gets shocked, ‘How come so many people gathered here, we were just out for a dinner,’” he added.
Manav also revealed that Jaya Bachchan can have her fun moments with the paparazzi too. "She suggests angles to the paps. ‘Yeh niche kaha photo le rahe ho, iss angle se lo (Why are you clicking photo from a low angle, shoot it from here). She is not media savy. She was just used to four-five people from certain channel and that’s it,” he said, adding that she has her own style.
In a past episode of the What The Hell Navya podcast, Jaya Bachchan shared her views on the paparazzi culture, stating that she hates the invasion of privacy. "I hate it. I despise it. I despise the people who interfere in your personal life and fill their stomachs by selling those products. I hate it, I’m disgusted with such people. I always tell them, I say, ‘Aapko sharam nahi aati hai (Don’t you feel ashamed?)’,” Jaya said.
On the work front, Jaya Bachchan was last seen in Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, where she played Ranveer Singh’s grandmother. The film also starred Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, Shabana Azmi and Tota Roy Chowdhury.
