'People can vouch for her warmth': Veteran journalist Bhawana Somaaya dismisses perceptions about Jaya Bachchan due to her viral videos and interaction with paps
Actress Jaya Bachchan is frequently depicted as someone who loses her temper easily, with several viral clips highlighting her reactions in public. The actress and her relationship with the paparazzi is almost highlighted. But perhaps, there's more to her than what meets the eye. Veteran film critic and author Bhawana Somaaya believes this perception is unfair and fails to represent who Jaya Bachchan truly is. She described the 'Guddi' actress as candid, supportive, loyal and warm, very different from the impression of her that is created on social media.
Speaking to ANI, Bhawana explained how isolated incidents get magnified, which shapes public perception inaccurately. “Actually, sometimes you know what happens? A certain incident happens. Then it gets blown out of proportion, and afterwards, she is actually very candid. People who know her closely can vouch for her candour, spontaneity, warmth, friendship and standing up for you at the right time,” she said.
She went on to highlight how the actress’ contributions are now overshadowed by selective content. “The present media has decided that Jaya Bachchan is now associated with only this. Everything else about her has gone into a blur. You know, she brought a breath of fresh air as an actor. Absolutely, there is a human side to her,” Bhawana added. Trade analyst Taran Aadarsh was also a part of this conversation and said that “today's generation might not even know what her (Jaya Bachchan) contribution is to cinema.”
On work front, Jaya Bachchan was last seen in Karan Johar’s 2023 film 'Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani', which also starred the late Dharmendra, Shabana Azmi, Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in the lead.

Jayaji has what to her credit except â Bacchhanâ surname, and that too she is not able to keep its sanctity. Just Jaya Bhaduri has only one good movie in her life which people can recall (folks of that generation). She is hardly a celebrity (or for the matter of fact even politician). Let her prove that she is one who can make a film hit on her own (actually she will not even get a movie on her own. All recent past movies she got was due to Bacchhan family social clout). Ask her to run for Loksabha MP election (not RS seat) and she will never be elected by public and so be in Parliament again. She had problem with â Jaya Amitabh Bacchhanâ which is her registere RS name but she is not mentioning that no one forced her to use â Bacchhanâ instead of Bhaduri, and she knows that she is nothing without that surname. Bhaduriâ s were small time poets and writer and she was small time actress, which our film industry would have wiped her out 30 years back. She is celebrity in no sense neither her behavior is like oneRead allPost comment
