From winning the
Miss World crown to being considered a global icon,
Priyanka Chopra has come a long way. The actress has been gracing quite a few international magazine covers lately. In one of her recent interviews, PC said that she doesn't like the phrase 'woman of colour' because she feels it puts "women in a box." The '
Quantico
' star went on to say that it was high time people start thinking differently and drop the term 'woman of colour'. She added "I'm a woman, whether I'm white, Black, brown, green, blue, or pink ' whatever. I think we need to start looking beyond that. It would be a big win for women, period.'
However, when the article made it to the social media, several women found the actress to be living in denial. Social media users went on to say that dismissing the term would mean losing a battle for equality that they've been fighting for years because the inequality between different 'colours' and racism still very much exist.
But there were women who supported PeeCee and her thoughts too.
