Priyanka Chopra took family on a vacation to heal from her father Ashok Chopra's death, says mom Madhu Chopra: 'We wouldn’t cry in front of each other'
Priyanka Chopra's father Dr Ashok Chopra passed away in 2013. But just in a recent interview, the actress had expressed how one can never really get over the death of a parent. Priyanka was extremely close to her father and also has a tattoo on her hand which said 'Daddy's Lil Girl'. In a recent interview, Priyanka's mom Dr Madhu Chopra opened up on how the family grieved his demise and the actress took her mom and brother on a vacation to get over it.
Madhu Chopra said in an interview with Debina Bonnerjee on her YouTube channel, "We were just immersed into each other. I had no life outside of my family. Priyanka would just go to work and come back. We were a very tight unit."
She added, "All three of us were grieving in our own ways. We weren’t sharing anything. For months, we didn’t talk about how we felt. We wouldn’t cry in front of each other. I held back thinking my kids wouldn’t be able to handle it. And they wouldn’t cry either, because they didn’t want to upset me."
While as a family they couldn't express their feelings to each other and were trying to stay strong, it was Priyanka who broke the ice. She realised that the emotional distance was taking a toil and thus took her mother and brother Siddharth Chopra on a vacation to Turks and Caicos. Madhu Chopra said, "We spent a week there. We finally opened up, talked, cried, and just allowed ourselves to feel everything. That trip changed our perspective. The pain doesn’t go away, but you learn how to live with it, and it becomes a little easier."
On work front, Priyanka is currently shooting for SS Rajamouli's next with Mahesh Babu. Meanwhile, she's gearing up for the release of 'Heads Of State'.
