Priyanka Chopra's Purple Pebble Pictures scores third Oscar nomination after The White Tiger and To Kill a Tiger

Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ production company, Purple Pebble Pictures, has secured its third Oscar nomination with Anuja, a short film produced by Suchitra Mattai, Mindy Kaling, and Guneet Monga Kapoor. Priyanka joined the project as an executive producer, marking another milestone in her efforts to support diverse storytelling and emerging talent.

This marks yet another achievement for Priyanka as an executive producer. Previously, she earned Oscar nominations as an executive producer for The White Tiger and To Kill a Tiger. With Anuja, Priyanka continues to support diverse storytelling and emerging talent in the entertainment industry.

Directed by Adam J. Graves and Suchitra Mattai, Anuja tells the story of a gifted nine-year-old girl who faces a life-altering choice between education and factory work alongside her sister, shaping their futures. The film stars Sajda Pathan and Ananya Shanbhag.




Celebrating the nomination in the Best Live Action Short Film category at the 2025 Oscars, Priyanka expressed her excitement on Instagram, writing, "Yaaaay! Anuja is heading to the 2025 Oscars as a nominee for Best Live Action Short Film! Thank you to @theacademy for the amazing honour." She also acknowledged her collaboration with the team, saying, "It's an honour for @purplepebblepictures and I to be a small part of this film's journey."

Mindy Kaling hailed Anuja as a story of resilience, sisterhood, and hope, writing, “We’re incredibly honoured to be nominated... So proud @kalinginternational gets to be a part!”



The short film, produced in collaboration with the Salaam Baalak Trust (SBT), Shine Global, and Krushan Naik Films, competes against A Lien, I’m Not a Robot, The Last Ranger, and The Man Who Could Not Remain Silent at the Oscars.
