'Raj Kapoor wasn't high up in an ivory tower'
Ranbir Kapoor once shared that when he was a student in New York, he used to wait for cab drivers from Russia because whenever they found out he was from the Raj Kapoor family, they would give him a free ride. He said," They never took money from me. Whenever I hailed a cab, I’d first ask, "Where are you from?” If they said Russia, I’d start the conversation. That was his impact. When I was at film school in New York, while they were discussing great filmmakers from around the world, they also discussed Raj Kapoor and Guru Dutt. That was his influence, and it came only from the movies he made."
