Rajkumar Hirani claims Aamir Khan-Anushka Sharma starrer PK had striking similarities with another film: 'Someone told us that this film...'

Rajkumar Hirani recently discussed his creative process and the challenges of making films that continue to feel relevant long after their release.

In conversation with Komal Nahta, Hirani reflected on the making of PK, one of his biggest hits. Initially, he and his team were excited about the unique concept they had developed. However, their enthusiasm turned to worry when they were told that another film seemed similar, causing them to fear accusations of copying.



The team spent a month grappling with the dilemma, uncertain about the next step. Eventually, they had a breakthrough when Abhijat suggested a new direction: portraying the character as searching for God and filing a court case when he can't find him. Hirani found this idea interesting and decided to develop it into a unique narrative.



The challenge didn’t stop there. Hirani and his team soon realized that another film, OMG – Oh My God!, was exploring a similar concept. As a result, they had to abandon that idea, highlighting the constantly evolving nature of creativity in filmmaking.
