Rakesh Roshan’s stunning Khandala mansion: Luxury meets nature with Olympic-size pool and lavish amenities - see photos
Rakesh Roshan, known for blockbuster films like ‘Koi Mil Gaya’ and ‘Krrish’, has also invested in a grand resort-style home in Khandala. He recently showcased his luxurious mansion, valued at around Rs 120 crore, in a video on Farah Khan’s YouTube channel. Reflecting on his journey, he said, “I was born in a garage, so I always dreamed of building a big house.”
Aerial view and location
Captured from a drone, the sprawling 22,400 sq. ft. house sits atop a hill on a five-acre estate, surrounded by dense green forests. This idyllic setting offers breathtaking views of the Rajmachi Hills, making it an ideal getaway for the whole family. The home was designed by architect Grigoria Oikonomou of Sibha Grigoria Private Limited, as reported by Elle Decor India in 2021. The white mansion features a vast, beautifully landscaped garden. Impressed by the grandeur, Farah described it as both a private resort and a stadium.
Grand entrance and Olympic-size pool
The house’s main entrance leads directly to a vast swimming pool. Farah Khan was shocked by its size, joking, “It’s big enough to hold an Olympic race.” Surrounded by a verdant private garden, the pool creates a peaceful retreat away from Mumbai’s busy life.
Nature-inspired seating and luxury garage
Upon entering the house, various seating areas inspired by nature come into view. Tree trunks have been transformed into chairs, and a cozy nook features boats repurposed as seats, all arranged around the pool. Additionally, the property includes a spacious garage to house the family’s luxury car collection.
Living spaces and scenic balconies
The mansion features several living rooms along with a dedicated television area. When Farah walked in, she noticed her crew members seated with Rakesh and his wife, Pinky Roshan, in an open dining space decorated with chandeliers and artwork. Other living areas lead out to spacious balconies furnished with patio seating. The balcony’s tiled floors and large glass walls create a sense of boundlessness throughout the home. Floor-to-ceiling glass windows offer stunning views of Maharashtra’s scenic ghats.
Elegant staircase and Indian artifacts
The grand staircase near the main entrance is adorned with dazzling ceiling lights, giving it the feel of an extravagant movie set. Throughout the house, Rakesh and Pinky Roshan have displayed a collection of artifacts and paintings from all over India. “Everything in this house is Indian,” he mentions in the video. True to the Roshan family, the mansion boasts a luxurious home theatre equipped with top-of-the-line recliner seats. The property is packed with every imaginable facility, eliminating the need to leave the estate. “We have a steam room, gym, sauna, massage room, and a basketball court,” Rakesh shares with Farah.
Spacious rooms and luxurious bathrooms
The Khandala mansion boasts spacious rooms, but Farah was particularly impressed by the surprisingly large bathrooms. Upon entering one, she joked, “This could actually be someone’s bedroom; bedrooms in Bombay are smaller than this.” Rakesh explained that he ensured each bathroom and powder room had a unique design to give them individual character. Likewise, every bedroom features distinctive decor and comfortable beds, enhanced by floor-to-ceiling windows that showcase the lush tropical surroundings of the estate.
