Rakul Preet Singh opens up about her wedding trousseau! Why did she have five designers on board?

Rakul Preet Singh, who tied the knot with actor-filmmaker Jackky Bhagnani in Goa in February this year, had stunning ensembles from different designers for every celebration. Sharing the thought behind choosing different designers for her wedding ensembles, Rakul shares, “Every designer I worked with for my wedding outfits had a different vibe, and I wanted each ensemble to look different from the other. Ever since I was a teenager, I dreamt of flaunting blush pink tones on my special day. I always saw myself wearing Barbie colours and light silhouettes. We had dress codes for our guests, too, so the colour palette looked similar in the pictures. I loved all my wedding outfits, and I am going to preserve them all and re-wear them whenever I find an occasion for it.”

Wedding: Timeless elegance with modern appeal for the big day
For her wedding ceremony, Rakul wore a pink and ivory-toned outfit by Tarun Tahiliani. Speaking about the ensemble, Tarun says, “Rakul came to us with a clear vision – she wanted a contemporary, yet vibrant ensemble that reflected her spirited personality. She was particular about blending timeless elegance with a fresh, modern appeal. We created an intricately hand-embroidered lehenga with three-dimensional floral motifs, which reflected her love for nature, in ivory and blush hues. It was paired with a blouse featuring sheer tulle sleeves adorned with graded pearls and crystals. The structured tulle veil, cascading like a floral dream with scattered Swarovski crystals, gave it the perfect finishing touch, adding an ethereal quality to her look.”

Sangeet: Crystals, sequins and beads for sangeet
For her sangeet, Rakul dazzled in an off-white and silver lehenga, with intricate light gold embroidery on a beige base, which was designed by Falguni Shane Peacock. Elaborating on their creation, the designers said, “The ensemble was adorned with Swarovski stones, crystals, sequins, beads, and silver acrylic flowers, each having pearl tassel details. A handcrafted blouse and a toasted beige shoulder cape, created from tulle and adorned with floral accents, completed the look.”

Mehendi: Phulkari-inspired mehendi outfit

Arpita Mehta, who designed the mehendi look, shares, “Rakul comes from a Punjabi family and she was keen that her culture is reflected through the outfit, so it was phulkari-inspired. That’s why you see it had a lot of threadwork, geometric and floral shapes with bright colours all over the cape, blouse and skirt. She also wore custom-made shoes with similar embroidery.”
