'Ram Setu' to 'Raksha Bandhan' - Top 5 Akshay Kumar films to look forward to in 2021

Pandemic or not, Akshay Kumar refuses to slow down! Having reviewed scripts during the lockdown, the Khiladi Kumar flew down to Scotland to wrap up 'Bell Bottom' before returning home to kick off new projects, as soon as the lockdown restrictions were eased. After just one release in 2020, the actor seems to be making sure that 2021 is packed with entertainers--from action extravaganzas to romance dramas and even a spiritual film. While Rohit Shetty's ‘Sooryavanshi’, featuring Akki as a cop, will be gearing up for a release soon, the actor has already announced five more films. Take a look:

Besides 'Raksha Bandhan', Akshay and Aanand have joined hands for yet another venture, ‘Atrangi Re’, in which he will be co-starring with Dhanush and Sara Ali Khan. The film is a cross-cultural love story that will be set in Bihar and Madurai. The team was recently spotted shooting for it in Agra, against the backdrop of the Taj Mahal. While the team has finished shooting, the makers are yet to announce a release date.

Akshay will go back to doing what he is an expert at--throwing kicks and punches--for his turn as a gangster who aspires to become an actor, in ‘Bachchan Pandey’. The film features two leading ladies–Kriti Sanon and Jacqueline Fernandez. While Kriti reportedly essays the role of a journalist, details of Jacqueline’s character have not been revealed yet. Directed by Farhad Samji, the film is yet to get a release date.

In April, Akshay is all set to entertain fans with espionage-thriller ‘Bell Bottom’ for which he started and finished shooting amidst the pandemic. Directed by Ranjit M Tewari, the film promises to be a throwback to the '80s and features Vaani Kapoor as the female lead, along with Lara Dutta and Huma Qureshi in pivotal roles. The film is slated to hit theatres on April 2, 2021.

Akshay marked Diwali 2020 by announcing 'Ram Setu' with two posters of the film. “This Deepawali, let us endeavour to keep alive the ideals of Ram in the consciousness of all Bharatiyas by building a bridge (setu) that will connect generations to come. Taking this mammoth task ahead, here is our humble attempt - #RamSetu,” he captioned the pics. A source had previously informed Mumbai Mirror that the film will narrate the journey of a protagonist who plans to discover if the Ram Setu is a myth or a reality.
